Vehicle Compliance Policy
Last Updated: March 15, 2025
This Vehicle Compliance Policy is published by Muvr Technologies, Inc. and its affiliates (“Muvr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and applies to Providers (including Movers, Haulers, and Couriers) who use a vehicle (including cars, SUVs, vans, trucks, dump trucks, trailers, or other equipment) to access or use Provider features through our websites, mobile applications, and related services (the “Platform”) and perform services arranged through the Platform (“Services”).
This policy sets minimum requirements for vehicle legality, safety, condition, documentation, and operational use. It exists to protect safety, comply with law, and maintain Platform trust. This policy supplements the Insurance Requirements Policy, Compliance with Local Moving and Transportation Laws Policy, Performance Standards Policy, Safety Standards and PPE Policy, Restricted and Prohibited Items Policy, Drug and Alcohol Policy, Incident Reporting Policy, and Deactivation and Appeals Policy.
1) Core rule
Providers must use vehicles and equipment that are lawful, roadworthy, safe, and appropriate for the Services they perform. Providers must comply with all applicable laws, including vehicle registration, inspection, load securement, towing, and traffic rules.
Providers may not perform Services if their vehicle is unsafe, unregistered, uninsured (where required), or otherwise noncompliant.
2) Vehicle eligibility and approved types (by service category)
Vehicle eligibility depends on service category, market, and what the Platform approves for your Provider profile. Providers must only use vehicles approved in their profile for the service category.
A) Courier and small delivery
Courier services may allow:
- cars and sedans
- SUVs
- hatchbacks/wagons
- pickup trucks (where applicable)
- cargo vans (where applicable)
Courier vehicles must have:
- a clean, enclosed, secure cargo area where appropriate for the item type
- safe tie-down capability where needed (trunk straps, cargo nets, or equivalent)
B) Moves and larger deliveries
Moves and large-item deliveries may require:
- pickup trucks
- cargo vans
- box trucks
- trailers (where lawful and properly equipped)
C) Junk removal and hauling
Junk removal may allow:
- pickup trucks
- cargo vans
- box trucks
- trailers (where lawful and properly equipped)
- dump trucks (where lawful, insured, and appropriate for hauling/disposal)
Dump trucks used for junk removal must comply with:
- lawful hauling/disposal requirements
- load covering/containment rules (tarps where required)
- safe loading and spill prevention requirements
Using a materially different vehicle than the one registered on the Platform, or using a non-approved vehicle type for a service category, may result in suspension or deactivation.
3) Required documentation
Providers must maintain and provide, upon request:
- valid vehicle registration
- proof of required insurance (including commercial coverage where required)
- valid driver’s license appropriate to the vehicle type
- inspection documentation where required by law (state inspection, emissions, safety)
- permits or operating authority documentation where required for the service type (moving/hauling/disposal), including for dump trucks where applicable
Providers must ensure documents are current and match the vehicle used for Services.
Submitting false, altered, or misleading documentation is prohibited and may result in immediate deactivation.
4) Vehicle condition and safety standards
Providers must maintain vehicles in safe operating condition, including:
- brakes, tires, steering, suspension
- lights, signals, mirrors, wipers
- horn and safety indicators
- seat belts and required restraints
- functional doors, ramps, and liftgates (if applicable)
- safe trailer hitch and safety chains (if towing)
- safe bed condition for trucks (no sharp exposed hazards)
Vehicles must be clean enough to safely transport customer items and must not contain hazards (loose debris, sharp objects, leaking fluids, pests, odors, contamination).
Providers must not:
- operate vehicles with known safety defects
- operate vehicles with active fluid leaks that create hazard
- operate with unsafe tires (bald tires, exposed cords)
- operate with broken lights or signals
5) Cargo containment, load securement, and hauling safety (required)
Providers must comply with load securement laws and safe cargo practices, including:
- using straps/tie-downs, load bars, cargo nets, blankets, and padding as appropriate
- distributing weight evenly and keeping heavy items low
- preventing shifting, tipping, or falling items
- securing doors and tailgates
- using ramps and liftgates safely
- not exceeding vehicle payload limits, axle limits, or towing limits
- ensuring items do not obstruct the driver’s view
- ensuring items do not extend unlawfully beyond the vehicle without proper securement/flagging where required by law
A) Requirements for open-bed vehicles (pickup trucks, flatbeds, dump trucks)
For open-bed hauling:
- loads must be secured to prevent debris, dust, or items from falling out
- tarps, netting, or covers must be used where required by law or necessary to prevent spillage
- loose junk must not be transported uncovered where it could fly out or create a roadway hazard
- sharp or hazardous debris must be contained safely
Improper securement that leads to shifting damage, roadway hazards, spills, citations, or incidents is a serious violation and may result in enforcement and financial responsibility.
6) Towing and trailer compliance
If towing is used:
- the towing setup must be lawful and rated for the load
- trailer registration and inspection must be maintained where required
- safety chains and lights must function
- trailer tires must be safe
- loads must be secured and balanced to prevent sway
- Providers must comply with any trailer brake requirements
- trailers must not exceed safe towing capacity or local legal limits
Improper towing or unsafe trailers may result in immediate suspension.
7) Parking, loading zones, and legal access
Providers must:
- park legally and safely
- use hazard lights where appropriate and lawful
- comply with loading dock rules, HOA rules, and building policies
- avoid blocking fire lanes, hydrants, driveways, or emergency access
Customers are responsible for access information, but Providers must still comply with law and safety.
8) Prohibited vehicle use and prohibited conduct
Providers may not:
- use a vehicle for Services while impaired (Drug and Alcohol Policy)
- allow unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle on a booking
- use a vehicle with expired registration or invalid insurance
- transport prohibited items
- exceed legal speed limits or drive recklessly
- leave vehicles unattended in unsafe or unlawful ways
- use the Platform to facilitate unlawful dumping or disposal
Account sharing and unauthorized substitutions are prohibited.
9) Accidents, breakdowns, spills, and incident reporting
If an accident, breakdown, spill, load shift, or vehicle incident occurs during service-related activity, Providers must:
- prioritize safety and contact emergency services if needed
- follow local legal requirements (exchange information, reports)
- notify Support promptly
- document with photos where safe and lawful
- preserve evidence and cooperate with investigation
Vehicle incidents may result in temporary suspension pending review.
10) Inspections, audits, and re-verification
Muvr may require:
- periodic vehicle re-verification
- updated documentation uploads
- photos of vehicle condition and cargo area/bed
- proof of repairs after an incident
- additional verification for higher-risk vehicles (e.g., trailers, dump trucks)
Failure to comply may result in restricted access or deactivation.
11) Enforcement
Violations may result in:
- warnings and required remediation
- job-type restrictions (vehicle category limits)
- payout holds or deductions where permitted
- temporary suspension
- permanent deactivation
Severe safety violations (reckless driving, unsafe towing, uncovered hauling creating hazards, repeated noncompliance, falsified documents) may result in immediate deactivation.
12) Policy changes
We may update this policy at any time. Updates will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of Provider features after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
